Board of Education Goals

In order for the Bloom-Carroll Local School District to carry out the work of successfully fulfilling its Mission Statement, the Board of Education has established goals for the district that include, but are not limited to, the following:

Curriculum

Having established a multi-year schedule for evaluating and updating the District’s K-12 curriculum, the Board will regularly assess each core academic area. The Board encourages collaborative efforts among the primary, intermediate, middle and high school buildings so students promoted from one building to another have the necessary educational foundation. The Board will regularly receive updates and, if necessary, proposed changes from the administrative and teaching staffs. The Board will review the data and take action with respect to implementation, ensuring all necessary funds are provided. The Board will receive periodic reports from the administrators on the progress of the improvements.

Facilities

For our students to be prepared with the college and career skills they will need for their futures, the District must provide safe, up-to-date, accessible facilities that make cutting-edge education possible. In addition, the Board wishes to make the schools available for community use. To achieve this, the Board will continue its efforts to gain voter approval to fund the District’s K-12 facility plan.

Communication

The Board understands that open and frequent communication with the community, administration, staff, students, and parents is critical for the success of all involved. Keeping the public informed about the condition of the district is vital to gain community support for our efforts. To this end, the Board will encourage more public input on key issues. The Board will create opportunities for public input during its regular meetings, by holding open forums throughout the year, by providing convenient electronic and voicemail communication tools, and by maintaining our written communication.

Finances

The fiscal stewardship of your tax dollars is one of the Board's most important duties. It is our fiduciary responsibility to conservatively manage these funds through the treasurer's office while maintaining financial transparency of revenue, expenditures and other financial reports. We will do so while offering a quality education emphasizing college & career opportunities and safer buildings.
