As students, parents, staff, and community members begin to
prepare for the upcoming school year, we want to take this opportunity to
provide an update on our facilities planning and progress which has taken place
this summer.
In May, voters approved a bond issue to construct a new
elementary school and a permanent improvement levy to assist with the maintenance
of our facilities – Thank you!
We have taken many important steps and completed several tasks in the facilities planning and development process including the following:
-
Procurement of bond and construction legal counsel
-
Issued Bonds to fund the project
-
Selected the project delivery method
-
Procurement of architect/engineering design services
-
Procurement of construction management services
-
Developed design phase and construction phase timelines in consultation with legal, design, and construction management professionals
-
Ongoing engagement of staff, parents, community members, Board members, architects, engineers, and officials from local, county, and state entities in a collaborative design phase process
The energy and excitement for the project is outstanding and
very much appreciated. At this time, we
remain on track and committed to the timeline shared with our community during
the Issue 3 campaign. Certainly, it
would be nice to have a new school right now; however, responsibly designing
and constructing such an important facility takes time and great attention to
detail. The school facilities
construction process is significantly controlled by State law and the Ohio
Facilities Construction Commission for districts that operate under OFCC
programs - as we do with the Expedited Local Partnership Program. Ensuring the design and construction quality
is done so at a quality level, while also controlling costs, remains a very
important part of the process.
Community members, staff members, Board members, students,
and other professionals will continue to come together over the next several
months to inform the process and design our elementary school to support the Bloom-Carroll
learners for generations to come.
Please continue to visit our facilities planning website for
further information and updates.
