Teaching & Learning Update
2026–2027 School Year
The Bloom-Carroll Local School District works hard to strive towards our vision to be the model school district for excellence in student success, opportunities, and safety both inside and outside the classroom. Our caring and dedicated staff is committed to meeting the needs of every learner, every day, to set our students up for success both now and in the future. At Bloom-Carroll, we’re proud of the ongoing academic growth our students are making across all grade levels, and the continued success of our students at the state and national level is a testament to our quality of instruction, rigor of coursework, and dedication of our staff and students.
As we head into the 2026–2027 school year, our emphasis includes staff development, implementation of High-Quality Instructional Materials, and strong academic and behavioral supports. This year, our instructional focus includes:
Math (K-5) and Science (K-12) Curriculum Review
We are beginning a K–5 math curriculum review and K-12 science curriculum review as part of our six-year content-area review cycle. This work is aligned to Ohio’s Plan for K-12 Mathematics and Ohio’s Learning Standards and Model Curriculum for Science, led by a committee of teachers. We will be using these statewide resources to guide our process and ensure all students have access to rigorous, standards-aligned instruction and updated materials.
PAX Training (K-2)
All K-2 teachers will engage with PAX training throughout the year. This program promotes practical, science-based tools and trainings that improve behavior, relationships, and lifelong well-being. PAX emphasizes consistent, routine-based strategies that build healthy classrooms and strengthen student skill sets.
Professional Development & Collaboration
Throughout the year, teachers will take part in ongoing professional development focused on:
Student Safety
K-12 Math instruction
English Learner supports and services
Special Education compliance and accommodations
Gifted identification and service
Wonders curriculum implementation aligned with the Science of Reading
Teachers will also continue grade-level and content-area collaboration, emphasizing vertical alignment work across grade levels in every subject.
All of this work aligns with our Guiding Principles for Teaching and Learning—that every Bulldog will be supported and challenged to grow personally and academically in an innovative environment.
