February Senior Newsletter

Hello, Seniors!

Now is the time to really focus on performing academically well in all of your courses. Particular focus should be placed on the courses you need to pass for graduation. Performing well now will only help to alleviate unnecessary stress as the end of the year approaches. It will be here before you know it.  I know you can all do this! Keep up the good work!

College & Scholarship Recognition

Congratulations to the following students! Your hard work has paid off for the next step of your education! Colleges and/or the military branch that students were accepted into are listed first, with details of the scholarship at that college listed directly thereafter, where applicable.

Adam Gonzalez - University of Northern Ohio

Jude Balser - Ohio Wesleyan University

Luke McElroy - President’s Scholar award worth $12,000

Allyssa George - United States Army

Brendan Gonzalez - Capital University

Reminder-If you would like to be recognized, whenever you receive an acceptance letter/offer from a college (from one of your top two colleges that you plan on attending), from an employer, or from the military, please forward the acceptance email to Mr. Kelley ([email protected]) or hand deliver a copy of the physical acceptance letter/offer to the guidance office.

Scholarships

This is a reminder that the BCHS Scholarship Resource is a great place to start when searching for scholarships. The BCHS Scholarship Resource houses scholarships that range from the national level down to the local level. Bloom-Carroll only scholarships can be found at the bottom of the BCHS Scholarship Resource and are in purple and gold. Next month is when Bloom-Carroll only scholarships will open up and they all have a deadline of May 1st.

First Semester Complete - Class Rank, GPA

Cumulative GPA is calculated only by grades you receive in classes that are complete. Since we are in the second semester, first semester classes are complete, which means that your GPA and class rank may have changed from when you last checked.

If you are curious to see whether your rank and GPA have changed, you can request a personal copy of your transcript. Reminder on how to request transcripts: this link (click here) will take you to Bloom-Carroll's "forms" page. Once there, click on the "Current Student Transcript Request Form". After you enter your name and everything, click on the "personal copy" for where you would like the transcript sent. Make sure to hit submit on the next page and we will email (to your school email) you a copy of your transcript once it has been processed.

Senior Passport/Resume

The below information was sent in an email by Senior Advisors Mrs. Eggleston and Mr. McNamara.

As a graduation requirement, you must complete a “Senior Passport” in order to receive your diploma. This year, the Senior Passport will consist of a single item: a resume.  You must submit your resume on this Google Form by April 30.  Do NOT email it; use the form.

The submission form as well as a resume template you can use can be found on the  Senior Information page of the BCHS Website. You may use a different resume template if you prefer. Fill in your details about your employability skills, job experience, education, and activities/interests. Try to emphasize things that will set you apart from the crowd. Keep the resume simple, easy to read, and limited to one page only

*** Career Center student DO NOT need to submit a resume as they complete alternative requirements at the Career Center.***

Any questions can be directed to either Senior Advisor.

Senior Pictures

All Senior Pictures must be submitted to Mr. Bookman before March 31st to be included in the Yearbook. Please email pictures to: [email protected]

Picture Requirements: Picture must be in a JPG format, High Resolution (3000 X 5000 or Higher) and Must be school appropriate. You will receive a confirmation in return. ***Hard copies can be submitted, but will not be returned!

The College Tour - Amazon Prime

Earlier in the year we covered “The College Tour” which is essentially an episodic television series exploring different colleges rather than the traditional genres. Currently, there are more than 11 seasons. Many of the seasons contain multiple episodes focused on Ohio colleges. If you are still interested in exploring colleges in a different manner, check out The College Tour.

Attendance

This is a reminder that your attendance matters. If you are habitually tardy and/or absent, unexcused hours add up and may prevent you from attending prom and/or graduation: prom and graduation are a privilege, not a right. Please make sure that anytime you miss school that you provide the appropriate documentation (Doctor’s notes, etc). For specific details, please reference the student handbook.
