One of the new courses at BCHS that students are excited about is the Design Challenge & STEAM class taking place inside the new Innovation Lab at BCHS. The Innovation Lab has been designed for students interested in bringing technology and brainpower together to create design challenges and STEAM projects. This semester course exposes students to state-of-the-art equipment, applying the engineering design process and using the same industry-leading technology and software used by top companies around the world.
The BCHS Innovation Lab was made possible by grants from Walmart, South Central Power, and the State Library of Ohio. Items purchased include, but are not limited to, a laser engraver, vinyl printer, Versa Studio material printer, Cricut Maker, resin printer, heat press, five 3D printers, and materials and accessories to accompany all machines. With the inception of this project, we have added a Design Challenge course which is taught by high school science teacher Lori Gudde.
