Superintendent's Update: January 15, 2021
Dear BC Community,

As we reach the end of the first semester and begin the second semester, I want to take a minute to provide a few quick reminders and updates. I am grateful for the opportunities we have been able to provide our students during this pandemic and I commend all staff members for their commitment to the safety, academic needs, and social-emotional needs of our students. The road ahead continues to be uncertain and we ask for your patience as we continue to try to do what is best for our students as safely as possible.

BCHS Instructional Status Reminders:
BCHS resumes in-person instruction on the Modified Green Status Level on Tuesday, January 19th. Students attend school daily and are released forty-five (45) minutes early at 1:25.

ODH Quarantine Guidance Updated:
The Ohio Department of Health recently updated K-12 quarantine guidelines. Students and adults in K-12 schools may continue to attend in-person school if they happen to meet close contact criteria and are wearing masks properly (covering the nose and mouth). Please encourage your child to wear their mask properly by covering their nose and mouth. These guidelines only apply to classroom and school bus settings. Students should not attend school in-person if they are exposed to COVID-19 outside the school setting, including during sports and other extracurricular activities, regardless of masking. Students may continue to be quarantined due to possible exposure during lunch, when they are not wearing masks, if they are within 6 feet of a COVID-19 positive individual for more than 15 minutes.

Parent-Teacher Conference Changes – Teleconference or Virtual Only:
Communication between families and our teachers is critically important to the success of our students. However, keeping our staff safe and healthy so they can be present to teach our students and keep our schools open is also important. To reduce the risks of teachers being exposed to a possible COVID-19 positive parent during parent-teacher conferences, we will not be offering in-person conferences and will only schedule teleconferences or virtual conferences. Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for the evening of January 28th and February 4th. More information will be shared with you from each school soon.

Substitute Teachers & Support Staff Needed
The need for substitutes is always present; however, the challenges of the pandemic have increased the need for substitute teachers and support staff. Our district will continue to require substitute teachers to hold a bachelor’s degree, for now, even though ODE is temporarily issuing 1-year substitute teaching licenses without holding a bachelor’s degree. Substitutes must meet all background check requirements. Please visit the Fairfield County Educational Service Center website to learn more information and to register as a substitute teacher. https://www.faircoesc.org/

Those interested in classified substitute positions (bus drivers, custodians, secretary, nurse, cooks, etc.) should contact the District Office at 740-756-9700.

We will continue to keep you updated as we progress through the second semester.

Go Bulldogs!
