Spring in Ohio means it is time to administer Ohio’s State Test (End-of-Course Exams) to our students. On April 10th,
11th, 12th, 15th & 16th
Bloom-Carroll High School will be administering the seven required Ohio State
Tests (OST) or End-of-Course (EOC) Exams to students in the Classes of 2020,
2021, 2022. In an effort to provide the
most conducive testing environment possible for our students, BCHS will be
running on a two-hour delay schedule on those five school
days. Students required to take the OST/EOC Exams will be required to be here
at the regular time of 7:30 a.m., while all other high school students will
begin school at 9:30 a.m. Students
who are absent or tardy during testing will be required to make up the OST/EOC
Exam(s) the following week. Buses will run routes on the regular bus
schedule. Non-testing
students may come to school at 7:30 a.m. on the bus as normal; however,
those students will be required to report to Study Hall during testing. Or, non-testing students may arrange
their own transportation and report to school on the 2-hour delay schedule; 1st
period class will start at 9:30 a.m. If
you do not ride the bus, you will not be permitted to enter the building before
9:15 a.m.
State law requires students in the Class of 2019 and beyond to score a minimum of 18 points on seven OST/EOC Exams, or meet an alternative option, in order to graduate. Points earned per OST/EOC Exam range from 1-5 depending upon each student’s achievement level. Students must still meet our local school district requirement of earning 22 credits for graduation purposes.
Please pay
close attention to the dates and OST/EOC Exams listed below in regards to which
students need to report to school by 7:30 a.m. for each OST/EOC Exam:
4/10 – English 9 & English 10 Part 1: Freshmen and sophomores currently enrolled in these classes,
need to report for testing.

Additional
information:
Testing
starts at 7:30 a.m.
Once testing
is completed, BCHS will have their regularly scheduled classes and will proceed
with the two-hour delay schedule.
Students’ testing location will be posted in the high school prior to April 10th.
Lunches will
be served as normal on the 2-hour delay schedule.
If possible,
please avoid scheduling appointments during testing times.
If we would
happen to experience inclement weather and the district has a two-hour delay or
school cancellation, we will continue to stay on the schedule listed
above. Any test missed due to weather
will be made up the following week.
This delay schedule is for
Bloom-Carroll High School only – students in other district school buildings should report at their normal time.
Please talk
with your child about the Ohio State Test/End-of-Course Exams and ensure that
he/she has plenty of rest and a good breakfast to help him/her prepare for
success. If you have questions, please
contact the high school office.
