Sixth Graders Gain Firsthand Insight into 9/11 with Guest Speaker
Wallace 2

On Thursday, October 17th, our sixth-grade students had the unique opportunity to hear from Allen Wallace, a retired firefighter and first responder at the Pentagon during the attacks on September 11, 2001. As the first on the scene, Mr. Wallace played a crucial role in saving many lives that day, and he shared his experiences and reflections with the students.

Mr. Wallace’s visit was organized as part of the students’ novel study of Ground Zero by Alan Gratz. His firsthand account provided a meaningful and powerful connection to the themes and events described in the book, offering students a deeper understanding of the bravery and sacrifice displayed on 9/11.

This experience allowed students to connect their reading to real-life history, offering them a chance to hear about the events of that tragic day from someone who lived it. It was a memorable lesson in both history and resilience.
