Summer Learning Resources and Opportunities

Summer break is just days away and we have so much to celebrate as this unforgettable year draws to a close. Despite all the challenges and stressors of the 2020-2021 year, there have been many accomplishments along the way.  Since early October, our teachers and staff have been able to provide extraordinary five days a week of in-person instruction when the majority of school districts across the nation could not. Our students have been able to participate in extracurricular programs throughout most of the school year, including sports, fine arts, and FFA. And just this past weekend, Bloom-Carroll High School was able to host an in-person outdoor graduation ceremony for the first time in the Carl Fell Stadium with family and friends in attendance.

Although the year has had many successes, there have also been innumerable challenges impacting our students' academic, social, and emotional wellbeing. We recognize the impact these challenges have had on our students and we want to provide our families with tools and resources to help bridge the gaps.

The BCLSD has developed an Extended Learning Plan to help identify and address the ongoing needs of our students as we move into the summer months. Below you will find specific information from our Extended Learning Plan webpage that provides links to programs and resources available to students and families during the months of June, July, and August.

We invite you to take time to explore these opportunities and utilize those programs that are most beneficial to your child's needs and interests. In addition, we would like to encourage you and your child to build in time for some good old-fashioned fun this summer. Check out local parks, zoos, and museums and just get outside and enjoy the great outdoors. Summer is a perfect time for kids to practice social skills, move their bodies, and work on those friendship-building skills that are important for learning as well as for mental health and overall well-being.

Stay well, stay safe, and enjoy this season of activities and celebrations!

Have a great summer!
