BCLSD Safety Day
Safety 3

Providing a safe learning environment for our students and staff is a priority for the Bloom-Carroll Local School District.  On Monday, November 26th, the BC staff devoted an entire day to improving our knowledge, practice, and ability to respond to a school emergency situation.

Staff members were actively engaged in safety training sessions covering various topics including:

  • Emergency Operations Plans: Reviewed, conducted drills, and discussed our Emergency Operation Plans with law enforcement
  • ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate):Training provided by the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office
  • Stop the Bleed Training: A national awareness campaign to encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives
  • CPR/AED Training
  •  Drug Trends: Presented by Commander Dennis Lowe of the Fairfield, Hocking, and Athens County Major Crimes Unit

I commend our staff for their attention to and engagement in each session.  Many of the topics discussed, and drills practiced, are difficult to comprehend.  I am proud of our staff for their commitment to make the safety of our students, and each other, a priority.

Making progress towards our vision - To be the model school district for student success, opportunities, and safety, exemplified through our commitment to our students’ educational experiences – was clearly displayed by all staff members this past week.  We will continue to look for opportunities to improve our knowledge, practices, and abilities to ensure all BC students learn in the safest environment possible.

Thank you,

Shawn Haughn

Superintendent
